2019: Sokoto police neutral, non partisan – PPRO

By Ado Hassan, Sokoto

Sokoto state command of the Nigeria Police has said it will continue to remain neutral and non partisan in carrying out its constitutional duties of protecting the lives and property of the citizenry.

Speaking to reporters yesterday in reaction to recent allegations by the state chapter of PDP, accusing the police ‎of harassing, intimidating and threatening its members and supporters, spokesperson of the command, DSP Cordelia Nwawe said the police was never partisan in dealing with fundamental issues bordering on the peace and security of citizens in the state.

According to her” we are only working with objective instructions and strictly in compliance with our mandate as a security agency.

” We are not dealing with parties but individuals and we must ensure strict compliance ‎with the 2010 Electoral Act.

” If you violate any section whether you are APC, PDP, APGA, SDP, ADC, AD or any party we will go after you.

” We held two stakeholders meetings to ensure orderly conduct by politicians during electioneering activities for a peaceful, free and fair polls in 2019″, She recalled.

She said the police is willing and ready to ‎give protection to all citizens and ensure the security of their property within the provisions of the laws.

” It is your conduct and attitude that determines what the police should do in discharging its constitutional role as a law enforcement organisation”, She pointed out.
