(New York, NY) – The Counter Extremism Project (CEP) released the following statement in response to a vehicle attack against demonstrators protesting against white nationalists in Charlottesville, Virginia:

“CEP condemns the vehicle attack that was reported to be carried out by a white supremacist from Ohio that killed one woman and injured at least 30 other people peacefully protesting against a demonstration by white supremacists and neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, Virginia. This act of violence, and the ideology of hate and intolerance that fueled it, is reprehensible and contrary to the values imbued in our nation’s founding principles and the ideals that define us as a nation. It can never be tolerated. As our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, families, and friends of this horrific tragedy, we must come together powerfully in support of peace, tolerance, and inclusion.”
