Chief Imam Urges Muslim Women to Attend Mosques Regularly for Daily and Jumaat Prayers

By Peter Jatau.

Abuja – The Chief Imam of the Abuja National Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdulkadir Jum’ah Oba Sholagberu, has called on Muslim women to make it a habit to attend the mosque regularly for their five daily prayers as well as the Friday Jumaat prayers.

He said consistent participation in congregational prayers would spiritually and morally empower women to better manage personal, family, and societal challenges.

Sheikh Sholagberu made the call on Friday, October 10, 2025, during an interactive session with the National Assembly Independent Publishers Media after the Jumaat prayers at the Central Mosque, Abuja.

According to him, Islam encourages both men and women to seek knowledge and spiritual upliftment through communal worship and listening to sermons.

> “Our Muslim women should be regular in praying at the mosque — for the daily five prayers and the Friday Jumaat prayers,” he said. “We are urging our women to be regular in mosque attendance based on the injunctions of Islam and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).”

The cleric emphasized that women stand to gain greatly from the sermons and spiritual lessons delivered during mosque gatherings, which, he noted, strengthen their faith and enhance their understanding of Islamic values.

He also highlighted the importance of spiritual discipline in addressing modern-day family issues, urging women to view mosque attendance not only as an act of worship but also as an avenue for moral renewal and community building.

Sheikh Sholagberu commended Muslim women who already observe prayers regularly in the mosque and encouraged others to emulate them, stressing that the benefits of collective worship extend beyond the spiritual to emotional and social wellbeing.
