There was drama on Thursday afternoon in kaduna state when officials of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) stormed filling stations within the metropolis over petroleum price hike.
Most of the filling stations visited by the officials were those selling above the official price of 185 per litter and those selling in Jerrycans.the EFCC officials arrived MRS filling station along Akilu road around 1:30 pm accompanied by armed mobile policemen.
They went around to check to ensure that the filing station was not selling against the official price while car owners were in the queue waiting to buy.
At Gura Nigeria Limited filling station along Nnamdi Azikiwe Bypass, the anti-corruption officials asked the staff to reverse to the official rate of 185 naira per liter against the 280 naira they were selling. They then visited 5energy filling station, Mando, where they stopped the sale of fuel at 292 naira per liter.
At Usmania Petroleum Station, also along the Nnamdi Azikiwe Bypass, fuel was being sold at 290 naira and the EFCC officials directed them to reverse to the normal price..Kamlik Nigeria Limited was selling at 299 naira per liter.
A member of the anti-graft commission said they visited the filling stations to force them to sell at official rates as it was to see how the filling stations were not even concerned about the suffering of Nigerians. DAILY TRUST
