The wife of the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kaduna State Council, Comrade Abdulgafar Alabelewe, has passed away.
Though details remain sketchy, she was said to have died around 12 a.m. on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Confirming the incident, Comrade Abdulgafar disclosed that his wife died after a brief illness.
“She died as a result of Malaria,” he stated.
The NUJ Chairman, who was still in deep shock at the time of the call, could not provide further details.
Her remains are expected to be committed to mother earth later today, in line with Islamic injunctions.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of Procyon Media, Mr. Ehis Agbon, has commiserated with the NUJ Chairman over the painful loss.
“This is a heartbreaking news. On behalf of Procyon Radio and Television, I extend my deepest condolences to Comrade Abdulgafar and his family. We pray Allah to forgive her shortcomings, grant her Aljannah Firdaus, and give the family strength to bear this irreparable loss,” Agbon said.
