Salihu Abubakar, Governorship Candidate, National Rescue Movement (NRM) has declared his support for the candidate of All Progressive Party (APC) Uba Sani and call on all its supporters to come out en masse on the 11th March to cast their vote for him.
He disclosed this during a press conference, held in Kaduna on Wednesday, said the party have outgrown sentiments to base their support on primordial grounds.
According to him, “Our support for UBA SANI is objective and unconditional, We withdraw for him in order that he will continue on the path of growth and development set for our children who are growing under up to reap from the deep sense of his foresight and planning for the future which the APC government is doing.
“Once more we reiterate our support for the APC Candidate, Comrade Uba Sani
and also call on our teeming supporters and party faithful to come out on
Saturday 11th March 2023 to cast their votes for APC.
“We invite you to this press conference in order to clarify the rumour going
round and to debunk the claim that we have withdrawn from the race and
declared our support for PDP Gubernatorial Candidate, Isa Ashiru Kudan.
“We want to make it categorical clear that we are not party to any arrangement
of such and we neither endorse the PDP nor call on our supporters to vote for
Ashiru Kudan.
“Some greedy elements went to meet with the PDP candidate without our
knowledge and consent where they purportedly to crave for favour or for other pecuniary gains.
“Their desperation is obvious going by the manner they go about it. We condemn their act in its entirety as fraudulent and insulting to our
character and political career.
“We are not political merchants who trade our positions for monetary incentives. We are in politics for the great concern we have for our people and believe that we can best serve them by joining politics.
“I Salihu Abubakar the Governorship Candidate of the National Rescue
Movement and our party have thrown our support for the APC Candidate,
Senator Uba Sani based on our conviction that his choice is the best for the people of Kaduna State not only for the continuation of the good legacies that will be bequeathed to him by the current administration but also for his
pedigree.
“Senator Uba Sani is an activist who fought alongside other comrades to restore democracy in Nigeria in the dark days of the military junta. He is therefore
someone who has paid his dues for democracy that took its root in the Nigeria spirit.
“He is urbane and highly detribalised and we believe his administration will solidify unity and a snap of purpose for the state.
“We have carefully studied the political activities of Uba Sani right from the time
he was appointed Special Adviser Political to His Excellency, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, where he performed with merits without making noise.
“He is a silent achiever who would rather work and let his actions speak for him.
He was also special adviser political to the present Governor of Kaduna State
where he also left his indelible marks without raising dust.
“As senator of the federal Republic of Nigeria, his record of performance stands him out. In his short tenure, he has sponsored far reaching Bills, chaired
important committees and established more federal presence in his senatorial
constituency. We have the proposed Federal Medical Centre in Rigasa, the
Federal College of Education, Giwa and hopefully very soon his effort at
ensuring that the ambitious College of Petroleum Technology which succeeding
administrations abandoned would bear fruits and the college will commence
operations.
