About The Project

Title-The Next Eleven:(Game Changers)

Group photo Generation Africa

‘The Next Eleven’(Game Changer) is a cutting edge character driven creative documentary  film,  a somewhat swerve  story told through the perspective of 2  young West Africans and their   discovery that   with their  skills in football they could  excel  in Europe as well as in Africa. The protagonists of the film drive the subject matter by elucidating on their own ‘back stories’ and the happy prosperous future they foresee for Africa and African youths. The film will also examine the issues of ‘legal’ and ‘illegal’ immigration and the desperation of some youths   to survive. The film will feature a juxtaposition of footages from the 2018 World Cup featuring  players the French team who lifted the coveted trophy and also teams with  players from African descent that have succeeded in the world of football. The film will also feature Visuals of success stories of some African Soccer greats like George Weah and  Sam Eto’o. ‘Next Eleven’(Game Changer) sets out to change the narrative about  migration and the power of  football as a picturesque African success story  told through the view lens of youths  amidst scathing issues on the front burner of globalization intersections. It is a story of inspiration, sport effervescence, pride and somewhat celebration about West Africa in the intersection of migration and the positive antecedents of Football.

The film however raises the following questions:

-Should survival be sacrificed on alter of legality?

-What value is migration adding to West Africa socially, culturally, economically and otherwise in positively rewriting the story of the sub region ?

-Where does this leverage on   the ongoing contemporary Europe’s wave of debate about   Populism VS  Nationalism?

– Where does that place futuristic antecedents about migration for the West African Youths, the power of Football and the emerging questions regarding contemporary European identity discussions?. The Film will be Written and Produced By  Olabode Moses.
