Amidst ongoing PDP presidential campaigns with Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as Director General, the opposition All Progressives Congress in Sokoto state is fast swelling with the defection of two PDP stalwarts into its fold.
The party’s Vice Chairman of Isa local government , Alhaji Garba Araga and Alhaji Garba Marafa Tozai , a Special Assistant to the governor at the weekend dumped the ruling PDP for the APC.
The ruling PDP in the state has in recent time been battling to overcome the spate of defection of its members in the nooks and crannies of the state to the All Progressives congress (APC).
The latest defectors are the Vice Chairman of the PDP in Isa local Government Area, Alhaji Garba Araga and Alhaji Garba Marafa Tozai, the Special Assistant to Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal,along side hundreds of their teeming supporters in the area.
Alhaji Garba Araga and Marafa Tozai who left PDP along side hundreds of their teeming supporters in the area explained that they decided to throw up their membership of PDP as the party renounced facts and all vital advice which led to the total failure of fulfilling on the promises made to its people during the campaigns period.
According to the duo who also noted that retired Col. Garba Moyi Isa, a former Commissioner also decamped to APC, said the party had been strengthened and remained optimistic of winning the elections in the area,stressing that the PDP led-government in the state was an absolute failure and not ready to cater for the needs of the people of the state.
” With Alhaji Ibrahim Lamido Isa as APC Senatorial candidate of Sokoto Eastern Zone, we don’t have any doubt that our tears will be wiped.”
Recalling the era of Wamakko as governor , the duo said numerous developmental projects were brought to the area, adding, ” but now the reverse is the case.”
They however, pledged to continue to mobilize more support for APC towards its victory at all levels.
Similarly, hundreds of PDP defectors were received into APC in Silame Local Government Area by party Chieftains ,
Alhaji Dalhatu Umaru Dantama and Alhaji Abubakar Gitta Rana on behalf of the party’s leader in the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
However , Dantama , Coordinator of APC in the local government who assured the defectors of equal treatment in the affairs of the party , stressed that the party was waxing stronger and disclosed that more PDP members were making their way for APC according to a statement by Bashar Abubakar,Special Assistant Media to Senator Wamakko.
