Tambuwal govt benefits Sokoto people with projects says Rabah, Wurno , Goronyo council chairmen

The Sokoto state Peoples Democratic Party gubernatorial campaign council has geared up towards showcasing the numerous people oriented projects by the governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal administration.

The development is coming on the heels of the party’s efforts at wooing support of people in the state ahead of next year’s elections.

Driving its commitment forward , the campaign council had on Monday flagged off projects assessment tour by working journalists in the state.

The essence is to objectively highlight the activities of the state government on its commitment to service delivery to the people.

However, Goronyo local government, located in the Eastern axis of the state where banditry has displaced many communities, robbing them of their livestock, property and prevented them from conducting farming activities over time, has today cause to smile for benefitting multi million naira water, health , road and school projects among others.

Speaking to journalists, chairman of the council, Abdulwahab Yahaya Goronyo said the council through joint efforts with the state government had executed no fewer than 50 projects across it’s 11 wards.

Goronyo also said with the support of governor Tambuwal, the council had successfully constructed 50 km road linking three communities of Illela Huda, Gare and Gidan Mata in addition renovation of schools at Gidan Tudu and Giyawa .

Accordingly, the chairman disclosed that a solid embankment of 7km long had been constructed at the cost of N38 million to prevent over flow off water to cause destruction on farmlands.

” The project commenced some time in 2021 and completed this year before the rains. It is one of the major area of concern to Goronyo and Bare communities especially the farming population”, he explained.

Accordingly, he said 2 blocks of 6 classrooms and a headteacher office at the Nana Aisha Islamiyya school were renovated at the cost of N8.6 million to make learning and teaching conducive.

” We have also benefitted from a 1.5 million litres urban water supply project executed by the state government.

” Although, for 20 to 3O days , the facility has stopped operating due to high cost of desiel “, Goronyo said .

Similarly, in Wurno and Rabah local governments also in the Eastern axis were multi million naira human oriented projects that touched on infrastructure, welfare , hospital as well education .

The Vice Chairman of Wurno local government, Mamuda Muhammad Gyelgyel told reporters that the council has constructed, upgraded and expanded schools across Kwargaba , Marnona, Wurno town and Achida.

He explained that each of the locations benefitted from a block of storey building with 8 classrooms as well an administrative complex with library facility in addition to an urban water supply facility with capacity of 1.5 million litres.

However, while in Rabah local government , home community of late Premier of defunct Northern region, Sir Ahmadu Bello were newly built, renovated and ongoing projects as the Rabah Model primary school, Vocational and Knitting centre, renovated and computerized Gamji Girls College , Rabah which has been closed indefinatly due to banditry as well the renovated and equipped General hospital Rabah.

However, Yahaya Abdullahi Gandi , Chairman of Rabah local government , who spoke to reporters did not hesitate to comment on the challenge of banditry in the area as a major threat to peace and legitimate activities .

” You have seen GGC Rabah , a boarding school, how it has become due to banditry. The students had moved to Sokoto for safety.”

Besides, Gandi said numerous projects had been executed across the 11wards of the council.
