Pensioners in Taraba State have resolved to embark on seven days intensive fasting against Governor Darius Ishaku.
The pensioners said the exercise is geared towards frustrating the governor’s senatorial ambition.
The State chairman of the union, Silas Jafta said the aggrieved pensioners have unanimously resolved to use the seven days fasting and prayer to beg God to stop the governor from continuing his poor leadership style in the Senate after his abortive eight years as governor.
They claimed that the plight, which Ishaku had subjected pensioners to was enough for them to seek God’s presence to stop his political career.
He said that they have not been paid their entitlements as retirees of the State government for over ten years and uncountable number of retirees have died because of the situation.
He said that they have written severally to the government through the Secretary to the State Government and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and also carried out peaceful demonstrations to demand for their legitimate entitlements but no positive result. DAILY POST
