In his remark during the launch and public presentation of the publications on teacher training held at Arewa House ,Professor Nkom ,who observed that there is a disconnect between the education media and teaching in the country ,said there are two critical sectors that can bring the country out of its problems.

While noting that the critical sectors are , “The political and educational sectors ,which are very key to development and growth of a nation, Professor Nkom called on Non Governmental Organizations to focus on how education is run in the country in order to achieve maximum development.
He however , said it is high time Nigerians stopped blind followerahip and ask politicians the benefit they will derive in all facets of education before voting them.
Speaking earlier in his welcome address, Professor Adamu Baiki said that the teaching profession is not just for education but a system.
Professor Baiki, who represented the Minister of Education emphasized that time and efforts must be put in place to produce good teachers in the nation.
Also speaking, the pioneer Registrar of the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) Chief Anjikwi Ciwar, said Nigeria must emulate the model of countries like Finland, South Korea and Singapore ,where a Masters degree is a criteria for permanent teaching profession.
He decried the use of schools drop out in must states of the federation to fill in for those who have the required National Certificate of Education (NCE).
“Teacher preparation must start from the primary schools but in states, some schools have had over 70% of its teachers as secondary schools drop out.
Some of the books presented are the professional teachers handbook technical education, professional teachers nursing education and others.
