Unemployment: Wamakko facilitates kick off of computer recruitment exercise in Sokoto

A screening test for over 300 applicants for Computer Graduate Recruitment Exercise facilitated by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko(APC-Sokoto) has commenced  at the weekend in Sokoto.
The exercise is for  applicants seeking to work at the  Emergency Communications Services Centre(ECSC), established by the National Communications Commission(NCC), in Sokoto.
Special Assistant to Senator Wamakko on Media and Publicity, Bashir Rabe Mani, confirmed in‎ a statement he issued Saturday.
The statement said  applicants with Degree and Higher National Diploma in Computer Studies and other related fields of study are participating in the screening process.
” Successful applicants will later attend an interview session, while the successful candidates will eventually be trained and deployed to the centre domiciled in Sokoto”, the statement explained.
Wamakko represented at the flag off by his  Director of Administration, Alhaji Al-Mustapha  Alkali, said the gesture was part of his relentless efforts to further reduce poverty and the high rate of youths unemployment in the country.
The lawmaker also said the centre will go along way in curbing the menace of insecurity in the state and Nigeria in general.
According to the Sokoto North District Senator and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education, ‘” the centre is an arm of the NCC, which aims to assist people in distress and other emergencies.
” State of the art, ultramodern communications gadgets will be deployed at the centre, to make it efficient in its operations.”
The statement further quoted Senator Aliyu Wamakko as having an undying passion to attract more employment opportunities to the state.
The statement averred that the Law maker was also committed to taking any action capable of further entrenching peace, unity as well as the socioeconomic development of Nigeria.
Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, Alhaji Bello Idris, lauded Senator Wamakko for the gesture.
While urging other law makers to emulate Senator Wamakko, the governor pledged to support similar gestures by any individual, agency or group, at all levels.
Also, Mr John Ayeni, the Head of Operations, Infotrak Research and Consulting Firm, the managers of the centre, pledged to conduct a transparent and credible exercise.
He stated that the centre when fully operational, will help to curb the myriad of challenges of insecurity, while it will assist the people of the state in distress faced by various emergencies like fire incidents, road traffic crashes and armed robberies, among others.
Similarly, a cross section of the applicants commended Senator Wamakko for the gesture and promised to be good ambassadors of the state.
