WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY

Every year on March 21, World Down Syndrome Day is observed to create awareness about Down syndrome. The 21st day of March was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.
2023 THEME: “With Us, Not for Us.”
The theme for the year 2023 “With Us Not For Us” focused on a human rights-based approach to disability – the right to be treated fairly, have the same opportunities as everyone else, and the freedom for people to make their own choices.
Below is an audio presentation by GRACE DANIEL which gives more insight about this day

How the Day is Celebrated

Every year on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks.

Lots of Socks 2023

The Lots Of Socks campaign exists to raise awareness of Down syndrome.

Lots Of Socks help us to get people talking on World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), 21 March and all year round.

Lots of Socks Day also helps children respectfully understand the diversity in their world. The package aims to help children learn about, accept and celebrate each person’s uniqueness.
