The Joint Task Force North West has launched a major military offensive codenamed Operation Clean Sweep III to neutralize terrorists and dismantle criminal networks across Katsina State’s Matazu Local Government Area and surrounding communities.
The aggressive operation under Operation Fansan Yamma commenced on June 14, 2026, directly following the abduction and subsequent death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar and his wife.
In a statement released on Monday, Media Information Officer Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja confirmed that troops are conducting intelligence-led raids, cordon-and-search missions, and aggressive patrols across identified criminal enclaves.
This security crackdown follows the late general’s burial at the Gidan Dawa Cemetery in Katsina metropolis on Sunday evening.
