D’Tigers Edge Tunisia 84-81 to Revive FIBA World Cup Qualifying Campaign

Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball team, D’Tigers, secured a crucial 84-81 victory over Tunisia on Thursday in Luanda, Angola, significantly boosting their chances in the 2027 FIBA World Cup African Qualifiers.

The hard-fought Group C rematch marked a successful debut for newly appointed head coach and two-time NBA champion David Fizdale.

The win serves as redemption for D’Tigers, who suffered an overtime defeat to Tunisia in their opening window last November.

Having bounced back from consecutive losses to secure their second victory of the campaign, Nigeria now shifts its focus to a critical Friday showdown against group leaders Guinea, where another win could draw them level at the top of the standings.
