Renowned Nigerian music video director ThankGod Omori, professionally known as TG Omori, has detailed the steep financial burden of kidney failure treatment, stating that average wage earners in Nigeria cannot afford critical care.

Speaking during an interview broadcast on September 23, 2026, on the *Afropolitan* podcast, Omori reflected on his personal medical ordeal with kidney failure and the exorbitant costs associated with ongoing dialysis sessions while awaiting a transplant.
According to Omori, standard dialysis sessions cost between ₦50,000 and ₦70,000 at public medical centers, while specialized private facilities charge upwards of ₦150,000 to ₦200,000 per session. With patients typically requiring three procedures weekly, total expenditure can range from ₦500,000 to ₦600,000 every week.
He estimated that maintaining dialysis care over a one-year period while awaiting a donor transplant could cost as much as ₦31 million, excluding ancillary expenses such as specialized medications, laboratory tests, and potential clinical complications.
Omori noted that such costs would quickly overwhelm even individuals earning ₦1 million monthly, adding that the experience profoundly reshaped his perspective on financial security and medical safety nets during severe health crises.
