Despite reports of a potential departure, Chelle denied threatening to resign over a leaked proposal that seeks to increase his monthly salary from $50,000 to $130,000 to cover both himself and his technical staff.
While the coach was recently linked to Olympique Marseille and several African national teams following Nigeria’s bronze-medal finish at AFCON 2025, the NFF has maintained that his list of 19 demands remains under internal board review.
