Unveiled by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the pact includes a 40% salary increase for academic staff and the introduction of a new “Professorial Cadre Allowance,” providing professors with an additional N140,000 monthly.

The agreement, which took effect on January 1, 2026, also restructures earned allowances to ensure they are strictly tied to performed duties. While groups like NANS, NAPTAN, and CONUA have commended the deal as a major step toward academic harmony, they urged the government to ensure immediate implementation to avoid the pitfalls of previous failed agreements.
