INEC Begins Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday announced the commencement of the Nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

According to a statement released via its official X handle, the exercise began today, August 18, 2025, with the online pre-registration phase through the portal www.cvr.inecnigeria.org. The physical registration is scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025, across all 37 state offices and 774 local government area offices nationwide.

The commission explained that the CVR is open to new voters aged 18 and above, those seeking to collect or transfer their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), as well as individuals who need to replace lost or damaged PVCs.

INEC cautioned against multiple registrations, stressing that violators would face penalties. It also urged Nigerians to seize the opportunity, noting that voter registration is vital for inclusive participation in the country’s democratic process.

For inquiries, the public is advised to contact INEC’s call centre via 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632) or use the short code 4632.

INEC reiterated its commitment to consolidating democracy and assured that every eligible Nigerian would have the chance to register ahead of forthcoming elections.
