This announcement follows a decision by Nestlé UK to take specific batches of its SMA baby milk and follow-on milk off store shelves in over 50 countries due to safety concerns.

According to NAFDAC, the products being taken back in other parts of the world were never registered or allowed to be sold in Nigeria.

The agency confirmed that the SMA and NAN milk ranges produced for the Nigerian market are not included in the global recall.

NAFDAC also reminded the public that it only authorizes specific versions of these products for the local market and continues to monitor the supply to protect the health of infants.
