President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Tuesday ahead of his scheduled visit to the Yelwata community in Guma Local Government Area. The President touched down at the Makurdi Airport, located within the Tactical Air Command of the Nigerian Air Force Base, at approximately 12:58 p.m.
His visit comes in response to the recent surge in violent attacks across parts of the state, particularly in rural communities. These incidents have resulted in the loss of numerous lives and heightened tensions among residents.
In a show of the importance attached to the presidential visit, the Benue State Government declared a public holiday to enable residents and stakeholders fully participate in the day’s activities.
During his stay, President Tinubu is expected to hold closed-door meetings with key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, security chiefs, and representatives of internally displaced persons. Discussions are expected to focus on improving security, restoring peace in affected areas, and addressing humanitarian challenges faced by victims of the attacks.
