TINUBU IN ANKARA: DIPLOMATIC TALKS CONTINUE AFTER MINOR MISSTEP

The Presidency has dismissed concerns regarding President Bola Tinubu’s health after he briefly lost his balance during a ceremonial welcome in Ankara on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga clarified that the President “merely stumbled” after stepping on a metal object on the floor and was not injured.

 

Special Adviser Sunday Dare confirmed the President is in “great shape” and has proceeded with high-stakes bilateral meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

 

The visit is proving productive, with both nations signing nine bilateral agreements and setting an ambitious target to increase trade volume to $5 billion.
