President Bola Tinubu on Thursday said his administration was engaging the international community diplomatically in response to remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened military action against terror groups in Nigeria over alleged mass killings of Christians.

Speaking during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, shortly after swearing in two new ministers — Dr. Bernard Doro and Dr. Kingsley Udeh (SAN) — President Tinubu assured Nigerians that his government would not succumb to external pressure or internal despair.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to defeating terrorism and ensuring security across the country.
Meanwhile, a coalition of northern elders has dismissed calls by some U.S. right-wing lawmakers urging the Nigerian government to ban Sharia law, describing the demand as an attack on the country’s cultural and religious identity.
Tinubu’s assurance comes amid growing diplomatic tension triggered by Trump’s comments, as Nigeria seeks to maintain cordial international relations while addressing domestic security challenges.
