OPEN GOVERNANCE AND WASTE MANAGEMENT IN KADUNA STATE

THERE is perhaps a starting point. Just maybe, if we have details of scope of work the waste management company is contracted for, then we can appreciate the level of service delivery.

The waste management contractor as I understand is covering the entire State. The company’s service is not invisible. They are conspicuous, very visible in parts of the state along the roads every now and then working. Ministry of Environment should provide useful details of drainages marked for evacuation, waste collection system and access.

This key recurring capital expenditure that was also defended yesterday at the Kaduna State House of Assembly’s ongoing budget defense is a critical expense that can reduce the vulnerability of the good people of Kaduna State to floods and unimaginable health pandemics and biodiversity conservation. Needless to say how priceless.

As we partner reporting and providing credible update that will help improve the service delivery components of Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources’s mandate the better for all.

There is every need to close ranks and make true the Governor’s commitment to ensuring their is value for money, transparency in the procurement process to become an efficient service deliverer (See: http://facesinternationalmagazine.org.ng/?p=3126
Acceptance Speech by Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, OFR …
the Mallam Nasir el-Rufai’s acceptance speech in 2015). Together as civil servants, citizens, civil society with the media we must lose sleep to help achieve this noble goal which could make Kaduna that state resilient to the shocks of everyday uncertainties.

The Open Government Partnership have opened up such opportunities where your value is made visible. Through a permanent dialogue mechanism as in the case of DMMP, KADMAM, KADBEAM; the list goes on; non-state actors can join the framework for open response. Why won’t you give this a chance? There is a willing citizenry.

Be a partner, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources as you are enlisted as member of the Open Contracting Data Standards Technical Working Group of the Kaduna Open Government Partnership ( https://www.opengovpartnership.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Kaduna-State_Action-Plan_2018-2020.pdf
