Abuja, Nigeria – September 24, 2025:
Members of Nigeria’s Christian community, civil society groups, and concerned citizens will on Thursday, September 25, hold a Memorial Prayer Vigil in Abuja in honour of the late American conservative activist, Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA.
The event, scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m., will take place at Riverside International Faith Ministries, Poise Resource Centre, 1st Floor, Legion House, opposite UBA, Area 3, Garki, Abuja.
Organizers say the gathering goes beyond remembrance, describing it as a gesture of solidarity between Nigeria and the United States, rooted in shared values of faith, freedom of expression, and advocacy for social change.
Kirk, who passed away earlier this month, was internationally recognized for championing youth involvement in governance, values-driven leadership, and political discourse. His work, according to the organizers, inspired millions across the world, including young Nigerians and faith-based groups, who connected with his message of civic responsibility and social engagement.
Speaking ahead of the vigil, one of the conveners, Ehis Agbon, noted:
“We are standing in prayer and unity with our brothers and sisters in the U.S. to honour the memory of Charlie Kirk. His legacy of courage, conviction, and unwavering defence of values will continue to inspire generations.”
The interdenominational event will feature prayers, scripture readings, hymns, and moments of reflection, while participants are also expected to renew their commitment to strengthening democracy, defending human dignity, and promoting solidarity across borders.
