Kaduna, Nigeria — The lawmaker representing Kaduna South Federal Constituency, Hon. Hussaini Abdulkarim Kero, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defection ceremony took place on Saturday at the Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna, and attracted key political figures from within and outside the state.
Hon. Kero said his decision to join the APC was in line with the wishes and aspirations of his constituents, who desire more effective representation and alignment with the ruling party at the state and federal levels.
Performing the formal defection, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, welcomed Kero and other new members, assuring them of equal opportunities within the party. He described the development as a sign of growth for the APC, commending Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his leadership and inclusive governance style.
Prof. Yilwatda noted that the APC’s representation in the Kaduna Federal Legislature has risen significantly—from four members in 2023 to 13 out of 16—an indication of the party’s growing strength and public confidence.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, also welcomed Kero into the APC fold, assuring him and other defectors that they would be fully integrated and supported in their legislative responsibilities.
In his remarks, Hon. Kero expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Uba Sani, and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas for their encouragement and guidance, pledging to continue working for the progress of his constituents and the development of Kaduna State.
