Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed.

He revealed that diplomatic channels are proving effective toward achieving rapprochement in the tense relationship between the two nations.

The Minister strongly defended Nigeria’s counter-insurgency efforts, insisting that the Federal Government has not lost any territory to the Boko Haram terrorists. He explained that the war against insurgency in Nigeria is not conventional warfare, making it complex.

Idris alleged that a direct connection exists between a proscribed separatist element and U.S. lobby groups aimed at misinforming U.S. authorities and fueling the claims of Christian genocide.

The Minister affirmed that the United States government has historically supported Nigeria in the fight against terror, emphasizing that this time around, Nigeria is still in need of collaboration to effectively stamp out terrorism.
