In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, the agency’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, revealed that certain politicians and groups are hiring people to launch false accusations against the commission.
According to the EFCC, these groups want to make the agency afraid to investigate specific individuals by claiming the commission is being unfair or biased.
Officials believe these attacks will increase as the country gets closer to the 2027 general elections. Mr. Oyewale emphasized that any political figure with a history of corruption will be investigated, regardless of whether they belong to the ruling party or the opposition.
The commission maintains that it will not be intimidated and will continue to track down anyone involved in financial crimes.
