Damiba, who rose to power in a January 2022 coup before being ousted by Captain Ibrahim Traore eight months later, was reportedly taken to the airport in Lomé following his arrest last week.

While his final destination has not been officially confirmed, security sources suggest a likely expulsion to Burkina Faso, where the ruling military junta has repeatedly accused him of orchestrating multiple coup plots and assassination attempts against Traore.
