A Federal High Court in Kaduna has approved a request for former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to receive medical treatment while in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The ruling was delivered on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, by Justice Rilwan Aikawa.

The decision followed a plea from the defense team, who requested access to dental and eye care for the former governor on compassionate grounds. Specifically, the court permitted El-Rufai to be treated at Mile Dental Clinic and Skipper Eye-Q Hospital in Abuja.
Justice Aikawa directed the ICPC to facilitate these visits under strict supervision, ensuring the defendant is returned to custody immediately after each session.
El-Rufai and his co-defendant, Joel Adoga, are currently facing a 10-count charge involving alleged money laundering and the conversion of proceeds of corruption.
While the court has previously granted bail set at ₦200 million, the former governor remains in custody pending the fulfillment of those conditions and further rulings on bail variation.
