The statement, published on X by former Manchester United and France defender Mikaël Silvestre—a member of FIFA’s own Players’ Voice Panel—has rapidly gathered momentum across the global football community. High-profile figures including England international Lucy Bronze, 1998 World Cup winner Emmanuel Petit, and former England goalkeeper David James have publicly endorsed the rebuke.
