Nigeria and Ethiopia are set to sign a bilateral prisoner transfer agreement on Wednesday to facilitate the repatriation of over 100 Nigerian citizens currently serving jail terms in Ethiopian prisons.

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu and Attorney-General Lateef Fagbemi arrived in Addis Ababa to finalize the pact after being received by Ethiopian state officials.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu revealed that four Nigerian inmates tragically passed away during the prolonged period of judicial reviews and negotiations leading up to this agreement.
She emphasized that the final accord is a product of deep-rooted diplomatic relations between both nations, driven by mutual humanitarian interests, justice, and bilateral cooperation.
