President Bola Tinubu has reiterated that his administration will maintain a strict non-negotiation policy with criminals and will not pay ransom to secure the release of kidnap victims, warning that capitulating to demands only fuels terrorism and banditry.

The President made the declaration on Thursday while hosting traditional rulers from Oyo State, led by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Disclosing details regarding the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Tinubu revealed that the captors had demanded both financial ransom and the release of their detained gang members—a request the Federal Government firmly turned down.
Commending the armed forces for their role in the successful rescue operation, he congratulated the government and people of Oyo State on the outcome.
The President further assured the delegation that the Federal Government is actively reinforcing the nation’s security architecture by expanding military formations to accelerate response times against bandits and insurgents across the country.
