Nigeria’s men’s national basketball team, D’Tigers, delivered a commanding 100–84 victory over Cape Verde in their final game of the fourth window of the 2027 FIBA World Cup African Qualifiers, keeping their qualification campaign firmly on track.

Guard Caleb Agada led the charge with an outstanding shooting performance at the Salle Multidisciplinaire de Radès, scoring 26 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the field, including an impressive 8-of-11 from beyond the three-point line.
D’Tigers established dominance from the opening tip, leading wire-to-wire and stretching their lead to as much as 27 points before sealing the 16-point victory.
The win provides a critical turnaround for Nigeria following earlier group-stage losses to Cameroon and South Sudan.
The result reignites D’Tigers’ qualification prospects as the team prepares for the final qualifying window scheduled for February 2027.
Under the FIBA qualification format, the top two teams from each group, along with the best third-placed team across the continent, will earn the five available African slots for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar.
