A House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee has cleared the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, of any involvement in the creation, approval, or operations of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The committee, chaired by Representative Yusuf Gagdi, disclosed its preliminary findings during a press briefing in Abuja regarding the ongoing investigation into the alleged inclusion of the unauthorized entity within the federal budget framework.
According to Gagdi, documentary and testimonial evidence submitted to the panel revealed that Gbajabiamila took immediate action to alert security agencies upon receiving warnings about the entity’s activities.
The committee noted that following a red flag raised by the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) concerning suspected fraudulent operations and unauthorized use of official government assets, Gbajabiamila acted within 24 hours.
He formally notified key security and intelligence authorities, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The panel further highlighted that Gbajabiamila initiated internal administrative checks and later requested additional security investigations when further red flags surfaced regarding an unapproved “world investment summit” linked to the group.
Formally issuing a preliminary commendation, the House committee praised the Chief of Staff for his prompt administrative and security interventions upon being alerted to the situation.
