The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN has firmly declared that a Christian genocide is actively unfolding in the country, a position the body insists it will not retract.
The assertion was made by the President of CAN, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, yesterday at the opening ceremony of the Fourth Quarterly National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the association in Jos, Plateau State.
The high-profile event, hosted by the Plateau State government, brought together senior church leaders from across the federation.
Addressing the council, Archbishop Okoh emphasized that the Christian body “stands unwaveringly” by its long-held position. He stressed that years of coordinated attacks, unpunished massacres, and the forced displacement of indigenous Christian populations fit the pattern of intentional extermination.
The declaration reinforces the leadership’s commitment to drawing attention to the security crisis facing Christian communities in Nigeria.
