Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has announced an indefinite break from his music career to focus on political commitments. During a recent livestream with content creator Davrel, the “OBO” crooner informed fans that he is officially on sabbatical and they should not expect new music releases in the near future.

Davido expressed confidence in his current musical standing, asserting that he does not need new releases to maintain his industry relevance.
He pointed out that his existing discography continues to dominate club playlists, stating that “10 out of 20 songs” played in clubs are often his.
The singer further revealed that his hiatus is partly driven by a two-month commitment to lead the re-election campaign for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.
Davido has been appointed as the chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team, where he intends to leverage his global influence for grassroots support.
Additionally, the artist touched upon the rising popularity of celebrity boxing in Nigeria, describing the trend as a “welcome development” for the entertainment industry.
