The Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, clarified the government’s stance on Monday during a media parley in Abuja held to mark his first 100 days in office, covering the period from June 8 to September 16.

Addressing recent rumors that triggered public concern over the weekend, Tegbe dismissed the speculative reports as politically motivated ahead of the upcoming general elections, asserting that the administration’s primary objective remains the improvement of national power supply.

The minister outlined ongoing strategic initiatives, including the deployment of renewable energy solutions and a comprehensive nationwide audit of existing power infrastructure to identify and bridge critical operational gaps.

While acknowledging persistent financial sustainability concerns within the electricity market, Tegbe emphasized that the sector’s interconnected challenges span the entire value chain and cannot be effectively resolved merely by raising tariffs or expanding generation capacity.
