The Federal Government has issued a statement assuring both citizens and the international community that Nigeria remains a safe environment for residents and visitors despite the United States’ decision to evacuate non-essential personnel.

This response follows a US Department of State directive authorizing the departure of non-emergency staff and their families from the Abuja embassy due to reported security concerns across 23 states.
While the US embassy has suspended visa appointments in Abuja and advised applicants to await rescheduling details the Federal Government maintains that the country’s security situation is stable and has urged the public to stay calm.
Visa operations at the US Consulate General in Lagos are reportedly unaffected and will continue as scheduled while emergency services for American citizens remain available by appointment. ‘
