This move signals a new phase for the sport in the country, with elections for new executive members expected to take place immediately following the federation’s inauguration.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Kola Daniel, Special Assistant on Media to the NSC Director General, the commission clarified a crucial regulatory point: no association, local or international, has previously been officially recognized to represent Nigeria in any flag football competition.
The NSC emphasized its statutory authority under Nigerian law to recognize, approve, and regulate sports federations, including those for flag football. The commission stressed that, until now, no group has held the legitimate power to act on Nigeria’s behalf or endorse participation in the sport internationally.
