The organizers of the Headies have announced that the 18th edition of the music awards ceremony will leave Nigeria to be hosted in Toronto, Canada.

Founder Ayo Animashaun disclosed the decision on Monday during “The Big Announcement” media event at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos, citing strong economic reasons for moving the show back abroad. Nathaniel James
While the primary event will take place internationally, the organizers plan to host a simultaneous live watch party in Lagos to ensure Nigerian fans can actively participate in the festivities and view portions of the award presentations in real time.
This international move marks the second time the awards have left Nigerian soil, following a two-year stint in Atlanta starting in 2022 before temporarily returning to Lagos for the 17th edition in 2025.
