As the global community marks the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, Hon. Gabriel Saleh Zock, Member representing Kachia/Kagarko Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Culture, has called on Nigerians to embrace the richness of their differences as a source of national strength.

In a statement released to commemorate the day, Hon. Zock emphasized the importance of cultural diversity as a cornerstone of unity, resilience, and sustainable development.
“Today, we celebrate a timely reminder of the richness that lies in our differences and the strength we gain through unity,” he said. “Our cultures, languages, traditions, and perspectives are the threads that make up the vibrant fabric of our nation.”
He noted that diversity should not be seen as a point of division but rather as a wellspring of depth and creativity. Hon. Zock urged Nigerians to promote intercultural dialogue, mutual respect, and peaceful coexistence, stressing that no tribe, language, or belief system should be excluded from the national development process.
“As we mark this important day, let us ensure that everyone is carried along in our collective journey toward sustainable development and social harmony,” he added.
The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, celebrated annually on May 21, was adopted by the United Nations to deepen understanding of cultural diversity and to foster peace and inclusive growth.
Hon. Zock concluded with a call to action: “Together, let us embrace the beauty of who we are — different, yet united. Happy World Day for Cultural Diversity, for Dialogue and Development.”
