Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has downplayed reports of animosity within the team after a heated exchange with teammate Victor Osimhen during Nigeria’s four to zero win over Mozambique.

The incident took place in the sixty-third minute of the Africa Cup of Nations match while Nigeria held a three-goal lead. Osimhen, who was seeking a hat-trick at the time, was seen berating Lookman and defender Bruno Onyemaechi for failing to pass him the ball during an offensive play.
The situation required intervention from captain Wilfred Ndidi and a Mozambique defender before Osimhen requested a substitution and was replaced by Moses Simon. Speaking after the match, Lookman characterized the outburst as a routine football matter and insisted that there are no lingering issues between the players.
The Atalanta winger stated that his primary goal for the tournament is to support the continued success of the Super Eagles rather than pursuing the individual title of top goalscorer.
Nigeria now moves forward to the quarter-finals where they await Algeria.
