Long celebrated as one of the few figures universally beloved by the public, Parton’s legacy was honored by leaders from both major political parties alongside prominent figures across the entertainment and business industries.
President Donald Trump announced that flags across the United States would be flown at half-staff for one week, calling her death a “true loss for millions of people.” Writing on Truth Social, Trump noted: “There has never been anyone like her, and never will.”
Former President Joe Biden hailed Parton as “an American original” who treated everyone with kindness, while former President George W. Bush highlighted her extensive philanthropic efforts to promote literacy, advance health, and strengthen local communities. Former President Bill Clinton added that she was truly “one of a kind.”
In New York, Mayor Zohran Mamdani praised Parton as “an irreplaceable champion of the working class,” adding that the nation is better because of her contributions.
