Defender Semi Ajayi opened the scoring with a powerful 36th-minute header, though Tanzania’s Charles M’Mombwa briefly leveled the score shortly after halftime. The stalemate lasted only two minutes before Ademola Lookman struck a decisive 20-yard winner to secure the maximum three points at the Fez Stadium in Morocco.

The victory places Nigeria in a strong position within Group C, currently sitting second only to Tunisia on goal difference.

The Super Eagles now turn their focus to a high-stakes showdown against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia this Saturday, December 27. With both teams having won their opening matches, the victor of Saturday’s clash will become the first in the group to mathematically guarantee a place in the Round of 16.
