Nigeria secured their spot despite a 1-1 draw with the Amazons of the Benin Republic in the second leg of the qualifier, played on Tuesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The crucial advantage came from the reverse fixture played in Lomé, Togo, where the Super Falcons clinched a 0-2 victory courtesy of goals from Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo.
The Super Falcons are the defending champions and the most successful team in the tournament’s history, having secured a record-extending 10th title in the last edition after a heroic comeback against hosts Morocco. Nigeria’s previous WAFCON triumphs were in 1998, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2018.

The 2026 Women’s AFCON, scheduled to take place between March 17 and April 3, will also serve as the African qualifier for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The semi-finalists at the WAFCON will earn automatic spots, with two additional teams potentially joining the contingent via the intercontinental playoffs.
