The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has intervened in the case of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who allegedly faced threats from NYSC officials for criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
TUC President, Festus Osifo, speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, stated that the corps member was expressing frustration and urged the government not to target her, but to embrace tolerance towards critics.
Ushie Uguamaye, a Lagos-based NYSC member, had posted a video on TikTok criticizing Tinubu’s government over the hardships Nigerians are enduring due to the administration’s economic reforms.
The video went viral, drawing attention from NYSC officials, who she claims later contacted her and threatened her to remove the video. NYSC has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
