FOR fear of going to the polls divided and sequel to perceived political fallout over the Governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Sokoto state that
produced the incumbent Deputy Governorship, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto against the popular expectation of having Hon. Farouk Malami Yabo as its standard candidate, a swift step to remedy the situation paid off on Saturday with the later settling for a running mate.
By the singular but wise decision, the party has dashed the negative hope and expectations of the opposition to cash on a divided house for victory even as the almost dying minutes permutation seem to enable APC in the state to retrace and sustain its tempo as a more formidable party to beat.
The development followed the overwhelming efforts of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko to cement the base of the party in the state by actualising the needed unity of purpose.
Aliyu Sokoto and Malami Yabo are both from Sokoto central and Southern zones of the state.
However, the deal was sealed at an enlarged major stakeholders caucus meeting at the instance of the Northern Senators Forum Chairman’s Gawon Nama, Sokoto residence popularly identified as “Peoples Home” where the former Sokoto state Governor announced Malami Yabo who came second at the recently concluded primary with 837 votes as running mate to Aliyu Sokoto at the coming 2019 polls.
However, the meeting was part of the party’s deliberate move to mend fences and reconcile the perceived differences from the aftermath of the primary election of the party.
The move which is said to be apt, was to further galvanise the strength of APC in the state and build the confidence of electorates and people of Sokoto state in supporting the party even as Yabo’s popularity remain unprecedented in adding value to the success of the party in 2019.
Meanwhile, a historic group photograph to climax the fruitful sitting attended by a close friend and associate of Malami Yabo, the Kano state Deputy Governor, Dr. Nasiru Gawuna, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi as well as three House of Representatives lawmakers; Honourables Abdullahi Balarabe Salame, Sa’adu Na Bunkari and Ahmad Abdullahi Kalambaina among other notables was taken.
