THE Leader of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Sokoto state and Chairman, Northern Senators Forum(NSF) Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko at the weekend, inaugurated a 29-member Campaign Council with optimism that efforts of the party’s stakeholders would yield results during the 2019 polls.
Also inaugurated simultaneously, were the Senatorial District Campaign Committees and Campaign Coordinators for the twenty three Local Governments respectively in the state .
Shortly after inaugurating the committees amidst an overwhelming crowd at the State headquarters of the party, Senator Wamakko lauded the elders, leaders , stakeholders and the generality of the people of the state for their sustained support and cooperation to the party and its candidates , at all levels.
While expressing hope and confidence that the entire party members would be resilient towards the success of APC at the 2019 general elections, Wamakko disclosed that membership of the various Senatorial District and local government campaign committees would be broadened to bring on board all the critical stakeholders.
Seaking, the Gubernatorial Candidate of the party and former Deputy Governor , Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu maintained that, APC remains the leading political party in Nigeria in particular and Africa, in general.
According to him, the party has fielded sellable candidates across the nation , saying , ” In Sokoto State , the entire people have spoken, as anywhere you go, the chantings of Sai Alu, Bakaki Karya Gada, are repeatedly renting the air .”
He vowed that his incoming administration will In sha Allahu, carry everybody along and would sustain the tangible, laudable legacies of Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
In his remarks, State Chairman of the party , Alhaji Isa Sadeeq Achida said, the members of the council and campaign committees were selected based on merit .
He said APC in the state was intact and united , adding, ” We will In sha Allahu succeed, as we are striving to emulate Senator Wamakko. “
In his acceptance speech , the Chairman of the Campaign Council , Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, a former Secretary to the State Government , as well as the incumbent Chairman , Governing Council of the National Commission for Colleges of Education, promised to live above board in the discharge of their resposibilities .
The Campaign Council has the former Minister of Transport, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman as Director -General , while its Secretary is the immediate past Environment Commissoner in the State , Alhaj Muhammad Bello Sifawa.
