2027: Obi visits Sokoto IDP camp, slams Tinubu APC led govt over languishing condition, assures of support

National Democratic Congress , Presidential hopeful , Peter Obi has vehemently condemned the condition under which IDPs are living, adding that ” no Nigerian citizen deserve to be in the Internally Displaced Persons , IDP camp due to insecurity.”

 

He said the country must be secured for the survival of citizens inorder to thrive in their various legitimate endeavours in peace and harmony.

” If a single citizen should be in IDP camp, it means all of us are there.

 

Obi said in Sokoto during a two day visit to the Caliphate in continuation of the Obi/ Kwankwaso campaign tour when he visited the Sokoto metropolitan IDP camp, housing large number of displaced Persons including women , children , young and old.

 

The former Anambra state governor expressed concern, noting that the country was not in a war to warrant innocent citizens in such situation.

 

 

” Nigerians , in what ever condition or situation , need to ba cared for .

 

” Imagine the environment under which they are living to survive. “, he rhetorically asked.

 

He said ” this is unacceptable. They need basic healthcare services( functional PHC) and other humanitarian support to hive some relief as humans and citizens of the country “, he emphasised.

 

The NDC presidential candidate in company of his Vice Presidential candidate, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso described the government the day under President Tinubu as insensitive and lacking in compassion.

 

” The concerns are hating in our faces as Nigerians. These IDPs are eager and willing to return to their ancestral homes and communities “, Obi observed as he zoomed into one of the rooms accommodating over 9 women with 30 children.

 

” How do you live in this small accommodation with large number of kids”, he asked one of the occupants ?

 

According to him, his visit to Sokoto was to have direct feel and understanding of the yearnings, concerns and situation of citizens in the

state especially IDPs.

 

He assured of his readiness to assist them , promising to support the displaced persons with monetary donation and work out plan to improve the environment they love before returning back to their homes.
